Camarena reaches base four times in loss to Florida Tech

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University baseball team opened its second Sunshine State Conference series of the spring season with a 7-4 loss to visiting Florida Tech, Friday afternoon. The Fighting Knights are now 10-5 overall and an even 2-2 in the league.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn outhit the Panthers 12-9, but the hosts stranded 11 runners
- The runs came in chunks for each team in the early going
- Two errors in the first inning from Lynn and two run-producing singles for Florida Tech plated three runs for a quick 3-0 advantage
- Julio Camarena singled to lead off the third inning and eventually ended up on third base following singles from AJ Orrico and Jesse Robinson
- Cole Fowler hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield that scored Camarena for the Fighting Knights' first run
- Shawn Dougherty evened the score at 3-3 when he hit a single that scored Orrico and Robinson
- The Panthers added a second three-run inning in the top of the seventh with a three-run homer to right field
- Lynn plated a solo run in the bottom of the eighth when Deric LaMontagne singled, advanced to second on a single by Jul. Camarena and took third on an Orrico walk
- David Judge hit a pinch-hit sacrifice fly to left field that scored LaMontagne to make the score 6-4
- The Panthers posted an RBI single in the top of the ninth to set the final at 7-4
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Jul. Camarena was a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored
- Dougherty finished 2-for-5 with two hits and two RBI
- Fowler was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double and is now hitting .435 this season
- Orrico, Robinson and LaMontagne each had a hit and a run scored
- Five different pitchers combined to allow seven runs, five earned and nine hits
- Jared Terefenko endured the loss after hurling 3.1 innings and allowing three earned runs
