Montelbano scores 15 in road conference loss

ST PETERSBURG, Fla. – Lynn fell on the road to Eckerd in a Sunshine State Conference game on Saturday afternoon, 80-58. The Fighting Knights started hot and held a 29-18 lead after the first quarter, but the Tritons stormed back to seize the win. Danielle Montelbano led the Fighting Knights with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting.

Lynn is now 13-13 overall and 8-10 in SSC play while Eckerd improves to 15-10 and 10-8.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn went 12-for-17 (71%) in the first quarter and led 29-18
- Carly Stroemel scored Lynn's first four points
- The Fighting Knights went on an 11-3 run midway through the first to take an 11-point lead, 21-10
- Makayla Hemingway buried three triples during the run to lead the way for Lynn
- Montelbano's steal and layup later gave Lynn a 25-15 advantage
- The Fighting Knights went from hot to cold, going 1-for-9 in the second quarter while committing six turnovers
- Eckerd outscored Lynn 24-4 in the quarter to take a 42-33 lead at the break
- The Tritons lead fluctuated between seven and 12 points throughout the third quarter
- Stroemel's layup cut the deficit to seven to begin the third
- Montelbano's three-pointer made the score 51-42 with 3:47 left in the quarter
- The Tritons closed the third with a three of their own to lead by 12 heading into the final 10 minutes
- Eckerd added to its lead in the fourth, shooting 57% from the field and going 5-for-6 from beyond the arc
- The home team finished the game on a 17-3 run over the final 4:48 for the 22-point win

- Montelbano is averaging 13.8 points per game over her last 18 games
- Trinity Mocadlo added 11 points for her ninth game with double-digit points this season
