Lynn suffers defeat at Saint Leo

SAINT LEO, Fla. - Trinity Mocadlo (13) and Carly Stroemel (12) scored in double figures but Lynn lost its road contest to Saint Leo, 70-63, Wednesday evening. The Fighting Knights led 18-10 after one period, but the Lions scored 60 points on 51% shooting over the final three quarters. 

Lynn falls to 13-14 overall and 8-11 in the Sunshine State Conference while Saint Leo is now 12-15 and 6-13.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- Mocadlo immediately got the ball rolling for Lynn with a made jumper 11 seconds into the game 
- The Lions took their first lead, 10-9, on a three-pointer 
- Makayla Hemingway's steal led to a Rachel Romich layup as Lynn regained the lead 
- Lynn held Saint Leo without a field goal over the final 5:56 of the first quarter en route to a 10-1 run and 18-10 lead 
- Stroemel and Rachel Romich each scored four points during the run 
- Back-to-back layups by Danielle Montelbano put the Fighting Knights up by nine, 22-13, early in the second quarter 
- Saint Leo scored six points at the foul line over an 8-0 run to cut its deficit to one 
- After Stroemel helped the Fighting Knights open up a seven-point lead, the Lions closed the half with five points at the foul line to trail 34-32 at the break 
- Mocadlo began the second half with two straight buckets  
- Saint Leo tied the game at 42 with 3:18 left in the third quarter and took a 47-43 lead into the fourth 
- Lynn was 0-for-12 on three-point attempts heading into the fourth but finished 3-for-6 
- Ella Fiore's steal and coast-to-coast layup cut Saint Leo's lead to two, 48-46 
- Hemingway's three-pointer put Lynn as close as it would get, down 50-49 with 7:47 left in regulation 
- Marianna Klavina knocked down a three-pointer as Lynn trailed 61-58 with one minute left 
- The Lions ran down the shot clock and made a three-pointer to lead by six with 30 seconds left to help seal a 70-63 win 

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS: 
- Hemingway scored eight of her nine points in the fourth quarter 
- Montelbano had five assists and just one turnover in 38 minutes 
- With five rebounds, Fiore surpassed 200 total rebounds on the season (204) 
- Lynn made its most field goals (26) since 1/13 at Florida Southern and shot its highest percentage (44.1%) since 1/23 vs. Florida Tech 
- The Fighting Knights forced 20 turnovers, their most since 12/18 against Shaw
