Robinson homers in loss to Bentley

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn baseball dropped its first game of the season Friday afternoon by a score of 7-3 to Bentley. The Fighting Knights were hit hard early but managed 11 hits in the game – including six that went for extra bases. Lynn left 13 runners on base as it fell to 5-1 in 2024.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Four singles and a walk led to two runs in the top of the first inning for Bentley
- AJ Orrico led off the game with a double for the Fighting Knights but was left stranded on third
- Joe Cacciatore gave the Falcons a 4-0 lead with a two-run single in the top of the third and he later scored on a base hit
- Bentley scored on a wild pitch to take a 6-0 lead
- Steve Rizzuto homered to give the Falcons a 7-0 advantage
- Jesse Robinson hit an opposite field home run to put Lynn on the board, 7-1, in the sixth inning
- Peter Avino's double scored Deric LaMontagne for the Fighting Knights' second run
- Reliever Jared Terefenko pitched a clean seventh inning and ninth inning
- In the bottom of the ninth, Robinson doubled to the right-center field gap and later scored on DJ Flowers' double to cut the deficit to four, 7-3, before Bentley recorded the final out

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Robinson hit his first homer of the season and recorded his second multi-hit game
- Orrico posted his second three-hit game of the season and 13th career game with 3+ hits
- Shawn Dougherty went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk
- Drew Clark allowed one run in 3.1 innings of relief
- Terefenko pitched three scoreless innings of relief while striking out two
- Lynn posted double-digit hits for the second time this season and set a season-high with five doubles
