BOCA RATON, Fla. – The third-ranked Lynn University women's tennis team cruised to a 5-2 win over visiting eighth-ranked St. Thomas (Fla.), Friday in the 2024 season opener for the Fighting Knights.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sophomore
Salma Djoubri and junior
Greta Schieroni picked up a 6-2 win over Alicia Andres and Lauren Seemann at the top doubles flight
- Sophomore
Dolores Molina and sophomore
Jade Marie won third doubles 6-3 over Carma Ibanez and Carlota Costa to take the doubles team point
- Djoubri, Marie and Molina each picked up their second win of the afternoon with singles wins
- Djoubri, the nation's top ranked singles player, cruised past Andres 6-0, 6-2
- Marie defeated Nataliya Slipchenko 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 10-8 in the fourth flight
- Molina took down Seemann in the fifth singles flight 6-1, 6-0
- Sophomore
Kristen Younes posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Ibanez in the third flight
