BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University baseball team captured the SSC series with Barry following a split in the doubleheader, Sunday. The Fighting Knights won the first game on Saturday afternoon, 9-5 and defeated the Buccaneers in the second game of the twinbill, 7-6. Lynn is now 17-13 overall and 5-7 in the league.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- Barry struck first with a sacrifice fly in the first inning for a 1-0 lead
- The Buccaneers plated a second run in the sixth frame on an infield error
- Lynn got on the scoreboard when it tied the contest at 2-2 following a two-run seventh
- Jesse Robinson singled to lead off the inning and scored when Peter Avino singled
- Julio Camarena scored the second run of the inning when Deric LaMontagne singled to right field
- Barry took the opener with a pair of runs in the top of the ninth on a two-run single with two outs
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 1):
- LaMontagne was 1-for-5 with an RBI
- Robinson was 1-for-3 with a run scored and a walk
- Julio Camarena was 2-for-3 with a run scored
- Devin Sweeney got the start on the mound and tossed 6.0 with two strikeouts, while allowing just one earned run
 
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- Barry struck first in the nightcap as well with an RBI single to center field in the third inning for a 1-0 cushion
- Lynn's offense came alive in the third, fourth and fifth innings, scoring all seven of its runs
- In the third, Juan Carlos Camarena walked, advanced to second on a single from Julio Camarena and the pair scored when Fowler singled to right
- AJ Orrico drove in the third Fighting Knight run with a single to right in the fourth that allowed Cristian Otero to cross home plate
- Shawn Dougherty doubled home Fowler for Lynn's first run in the fifth
- Paulino made the score 5-1 when he scored on a wild pitch
- Otero smacked his second home run of the series over the right center fence that scored Dougherty for the Fighting Knights' final runs
- Barry made things interesting with five runs in the eighth inning behind a three-run triple
- Noah Lucia struckout the first batter in the ninth and received a ground out and fly out to seal the win
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Fowler was 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored
- Otero's only hit was the home run as he finished 1-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored
- Juan Carlos Camarena was 2-for-2 with a run scored and two walks
- Nathan Shane picked up his second win of the season after throwing 5.0 innings with three strikeouts and one earned run
- Lucia struckout one in 1.2 innings and allowed just two earned runs
