WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Lynn dropped the opening game of its three-game series with Palm Beach Atlantic, 1-0, Thursday evening. The Sailfish scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning for the game's only run. Starting pitcher
Matt Tiberia allowed just four baserunners over five innings and reliever Jared Terefenco tossed three scoreless innings for the Fighting Knights.
Lynn is now 17-14 overall and 5-8 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn had its leadoff batter reach base four times in the game
- The Fighting Knights left nine runners on base while the Sailfish stranded four in the game
- AJ Orrico led off the game with a walk and Leon Paulino doubled but the Fighting Knights were unable to score in the top of the first inning
- PBA scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first on a base hit to left field
- The Fighting Knights turned a 4-6-3 double play in the bottom of the third
- Jesse Robinson led off the top of the fourth with a single and advanced to second on a sac bunt, but two fly outs ended the threat
- DJ Flowers led off the top of the fifth with a single and advanced to second on a sac bunt, but a ground out and a strikeout ended the inning
- Tiberia pitched a 1-2-3 fifth inning in his final inning of work on the mound
- Paulino walked and Robinson reached on an error to begin to sixth inning, but a pair of strikeouts got the Sailfish out of the jam
- Lynn went down in order in the top of the ninth to end the game with a 1-0 final score
