MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Lynn softball lost 10-2 to Barry on Sunday afternoon in six innings. Morgan Simpson led the Fighting Knights with two hits, while Monique Poitevin reached base three times. Lynn is 10-25 overall this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Simpson led off the game with a single
- After stealing second base, she scored on Poitevin's base hit to give Lynn a 1-0 lead
- Barry scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead
- Eliza Gonzalez doubled in the third inning but was left stranded on second base
- The Buccaneers scored four runs on four hits and an error in the third inning to open up a 6-1 advantage
- Olivia Lovins drove in Poitevin in the fifth inning for Lynn's second run with a base hit the other way
- Barry added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth with a double, walk, sac bunt and single
- Three hits led to two runs to end the game after six innings with a 10-2 final in favor of the home team
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Simpson went 2-for-4 with her 24th stolen base of the season
- Poitevin went 1-for-1 with two walks, scoring a run and collecting an RBI
- Lovins posted her eighth multi-hit game of the season
