BOCA RATON, Fla. – Graduate student
Brad McCabe scored 19 points for the third-consecutive game and the Lynn University men's basketball team held off a late charge from Palm Beach Atlantic for an 81-75 win in the opening round of the SSC Tournament, Tuesday.
The win propels the Fighting Knights into the tournament semifinals and they will travel to No. 1 ranked and top seed Nova Southeastern on Thursday, March 7 at 7:00 pm.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn outscored the Sailfish in both halves and the hosts led by 17 with 12:08 to play in regulation on a graduate

Tradavis Thompson hit a driving layup at 6:16 for a 71-67 lead
- The Sailfish connected on three-straight baskets for a 73-71 lead with 2:18 to play
- McCabe swished a three-pointer directly in front of the Lynn bench and Evans flushed a dunk with 1:35 showing to regain the momentum for Lynn
- A pair of Thompson free throws and another dunk from Evans sealed the win for the Fighting Knights

Nordin Kapic hit a three-pointer for a 17-13 lead with 14:22 showing in the opening half

- PBA rebounded for a 31-30 lead with 5:05 left until intermission
- Lynn closed the opening half with two jumpers from Thompson and a layup from sophomore
Rickey Ballard for a 42-35 lead at intermission
- The Fighting Knights shot 50.8 percent (31-of-61) from the field and knocked down 10 three-pointers
