BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 9 ranked Lynn University women's tennis team posted a pair of shutouts in doubles and closed with two more in singles play as the Fighting Knights defeated Southern New Hampshire, 7-0, Friday. Lynn is now 10-1 overall on the season, while the Penmen settle at 10-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn quickly picked up the first team point with 6-0 shutouts in the second and third doubles flights
- Junior
Zofia Podbiol and sophomore
Kristen Younes defeated Madison Blazejowski and Nadya Lyekontseva at No. 2
- They are now 6-3 in doubles this spring
- Sophomores
Salma Djoubri and
Dolores Molina moved past Katelyn Nichols and Nadia Alden, 6-0, in the third doubles flight
- The duo is 3-0 in the third flight
- Graduate
Deniza Marcinkevica and junior
Greta Schieroni closed doubles action with a 6-2 defeat of Alina Kupfer and Dajana Abadzic
- They now have two wins as a tandem in the top flight
- Younes and Podbiol each collected 6-0 shutouts in singles
- Younes posted a 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Alden in the fourth flight, while Podbiol earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the sixth flight over Blazejowski
- Younes has now won her last four singles matches and is 9-1 overall
- Podbiol is 5-2 in singles with four-consecutive wins
- Marcinkevica beat Abadzic in the second flight, 6-2, 6-0
- Schieroni nearly earned a shutout with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lyekontseva at No. 3 singles
- She has won five-straight singles matches and is 6-3 overall
- Sophomore
Jade Marie won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1 over Nichols in the fifth flight
- Marie is 8-1 in singles, 3-0 in the fifth flight, and she has won five-straight matches
- Djoubri wrapped up the match with a hard fought 7-5, 6-3 victory over Kupfer, the nation's fourth-ranked singles player
- Djoubri, the nation's top-ranked player is 11-0 in singles and each win has come in the top flight
