Stanton scores twice in fourth quarter as Lynn rallies for win

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Graduate student Jalen Stanton scored twice late in the fourth quarter as part of a 4-0 run in the closing minutes of regulation as Lynn University rallied past Palm Beach Atlantic for a 12-10 win in SSC action Wednesday. Stanton's first goal tied the game at 10 and his second proved to be the game-winner as the Fighting Knights improve to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the SSC.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn narrowly outshot the Sailfish 35-33 and the hosts won 17-of-25 faceoffs
- Graduate Joseph Michalski scored two goals in the first frame as Lynn jumped out to a 3-0 cushion midway through the period
- The Fighting Knights added another 3-0 scoring run to close the first and open the second quarter with a 6-2 lead
- Sophomore Connor Zombro, Michalski and senior Connor Koppelman each found the net for the 6-2 advantage
- The Sailfish rebounded by scoring seven of the game's next eight goals for a 9-7 advantage with 13:03 left in the fourth
- PBA's run started midway through the second quarter and a man-up goal handed it the two-goal lead early in the fourth
- Junior Connor Houston halted the run with a man-up goal off an assist from freshman Will Harris with 11:29 showing in the fourth
- Palm Beach Atlantic scored its final goal with 7:06 left for a 10-8 lead
- Graduate Thomas Murray started Lynn's rally with a goal from Houston with 5:02 to play that narrowed it to 10-9
- Stanton scored at 2:44 and again at 1:23 for an 11-10 lead
- Graduate Brian Hoskins scored with 18 seconds left off an assist from sophomore Jackson Cutter to set the final at 12-10
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Michalksi finished with a season-high six points on three goals and three assists
- Houston finished with three goals and two assists
- Stanton's second goal was a man-up tally and he is now Lynn's all-time leader in man-up goals
- Junior Camren Santos won 17-of-25 faceoffs and posted a season-high 10 ground balls
- Junior Matthew Canedo scooped up four ground balls and caused three turnovers
- Sophomore Tristan Lenard stopped eight shots in 60 minutes
