No. 13 Lynn drops regular-season finale to No. 4 Florida Southern

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Juniors Kristyn Johnson and Mallory Jarka each registered seven points as the No. 13 Lynn University women's lacrosse team closed its regular-season with a 22-17 loss to No. 4 Florida Southern, Tuesday afternoon. The loss drops the Fighting Knights to 12-4 overall and 3-4 in the SSC.
 
Lynn has earned a spot in the upcoming 2024 SSC Tournament that starts on Saturday, April 20. However, the final seedings won't be determined until the regular season comes to a close for all schools tomorrow afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Mocs outshot the Fighting Knights 36-26 and the visitors held a 22-20 edge in draw controls
- Lynn jumped out to a 4-2 cushion just over five minutes into the opening quarter
- Senior Diane Dohler scored two of Lynn's first four goals, while Jarka handed out two assists in the early going
- Jarka assisted a sophomore Rebecca Clark goal at 7:02 in the first for a 5-4 lead
- Johnson opened the second quarter with a goal that tied things at 7-7 and she scored again at 11:41 to tie the game at 8-8
- Florida Southern scored six of the game's next seven goals to carry a 15-9 lead into halftime
- Clark and Jarka each scored to open the third quarter as the hosts trimmed their deficit to 15-11
- The Mocs answered with a pair of 3-0 scoring runs for a 22-13 cushion early in the fourth
- Sophomore Hannah Exley, graduate Elizabeth Tamasitis, Johnson and Jarka each found the net in the fourth as Lynn trimmed its final deficit to 22-17
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Jarka finished with three goals and four assists
- Johnson scored four goals with three assists, one ground ball, two caused turnovers and two draw controls
- Clark scored three times with one assist and six draw controls
- Dohler scored three goals with one assist
- Sophomore Isabella Connelly grabbed seven draw controls
