SAINT LEO, Fla. – Lynn softball dropped both ends of its twin bill at Saint Leo on Saturday, 6-5 and 9-1.
Teagan Riley homered and
Kyra Sunga had three hits in a tightly contested opening game. Lynn is now 12-35 this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- Lynn scored used some two-out thunder to score three runs in the top of the first
- Sunga doubled and
Olivia Lovins was hit by a pitch

Josey Sumpter tripled to right to plate two runs

Maiya Reinhart followed with a base hit up the middle to bring home Sumpter
- Saint Leo loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the first but a fly out and line out ended the inning
- The Lions scored a run in the bottom of the second to cut Lynn's lead to 3-1
- The home team then took the lead in the bottom of the third with three runs on four hits to take a 4-3 advantage
- The Fighting Knights took back the lead in the top of the sixth on
Teagan Riley's two-run homer down the left field line
- Saint Leo tied the game, 5-5, in the bottom of the sixth on a double and single
- The Lions walked it off on a sac fly to left field for an unearned run and 6-5 final score
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 1):
- Sunga had three hits for her 11
th multi-hit game of the season
- Riley hit her team-leading fifth home run of 2024
- Sumpter hit her fourth career triple
- Reinhart had two hits to raise her season batting average to .302

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- Lynn again took a lead in the first inning after
Morgan Simpson singled, stole and scored on Lovins' single up the middle
- Saint Leo took a commanding lead with nine runs in the bottom of the second following eight singles, two walks and a hit by pitch
- The Fighting Knights went hitless with three walks over the final three innings for a 9-1 final score
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 2):
- Simpson went 1-for-3 with a run scored and her 36
th stolen base of the season
- Lovins posted her 18
th RBI of the season
