Lynn drops series opener at NSU, 10-8

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Five Fighting Knights posted multiple hits in a 10-8 loss at Nova Southeastern on Friday night. Designated hitter Peter Avino led Lynn with three hits, while left fielder Jesse Robinson homered and stole a base in the defeat. 

Lynn is now 21-24 overall and 7-18 in the SSC.
  

HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
- Lynn managed 14 hits and five base on balls but left 14 runners on base 
- Starting pitcher Matt Tiberia struck out the side in the bottom of the first but NSU scored on a triple and wild pitch 
- Deric LaMontagne and Julio Camarena each singled in the top of the second inning 
- LaMontagne scored on an error for Lynn's first run of the game 
- Avino's base hit up the middle scored Ju. Camarena to give Lynn a 2-1 lead 
- A hit by pitch, walk and error led to a Sharks run in the bottom of the second to tie the game 
- NSU added four runs, including a three-run home run, in the third inning to take a 6-2 advantage 
- Robinson brought Lynn within two, 6-4, with a two-run homer in the top of the fifth inning 
- The Sharks got both runs back in the bottom half of the frame on a solo shot and sac fly 
- In the top of the seventh, Lynn added three runs to get within one run, 8-7 
- Ju. Camarena's single to center scored Juan Carlos Camarena and Robinson 
- Two batters later, Avino's opposite field base hit plated Ju. Camarena 
- NSU scored two runs on a single, walk and double to take a 10-7 lead 
- Cole Fowler's double scored AJ Orrico for the final run of the game in the bottom of the ninth 

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
 
- Robinson hit his sixth home run and stole his sixth base of the season 
- Avino is batting .429 (15-for-35) in April and has multiple hits in seven of his last 11 starts 
- Fowler hit his team-leading 13th double of 2024 
- LaMontagne recorded his 14th multi-hit game of the season 
- Ju. Camarena scored twice and drove in two
