DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Lynn softball forced extra innings, rallying from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game, but lost in eight innings to Embry-Riddle, 4-3.
Morgan Simpson scored twice, while
Eliza Gonzalez drove in two runs for the Fighting Knights.
Lynn is now 11-28 overall this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning with two hits, two errors and two walks in the inning
- The Fighting Knights scored a run in the top of the fifth inning
- Ariana Rego reached base, stole second and later scored on Monique Poitevin's bunt to put the Fighting Knights within one run through six innings
- Lynn tied the game in the top of the seventh, scoring in its third consecutive inning
- Simpson reached on an error, stole second base and advance to third on another error
- Simpson scored, tying the game at three, on Gonzalez's ground out
- Embry-Riddle's leadoff hitter singled in the bottom of the seventh, but a strikeout and two fly outs sent the game to extra innings
- The Eagles led off the bottom of the eighth with a single and stolen base
- The game ended on a sac bunt, as the runner scored from second on the play for a 4-3 final
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Simpson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and her 29th stolen base of the season
- Gonzalez has a team-leading 18 RBI this season
- Kyra Sunga went 2-for-4 and leads the team with a .373 batting average
- Rego became the second Fighting Knight to reach 20 stolen bases this season
- Lynn stole 4+ bases in a game for the seventh time in 2024
