BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University baseball team lost in 10 innings to Embry-Riddle in the final game of the series on Sunday, 10-8. After jumping out to a 4-0 lead, the Fighting Knights needed two runs in the bottom of the eighth to send the game to extra innings. Lynn falls to 19-18 overall in 2024 and 6-12 in the SSC
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Starting pitcher
Nathan Shane struck out two batters in a clean top of the first inning
- After
AJ Orrico walked and
Cole Fowler singled,
Leon Paulino blasted an opposite-field three-run homer to put Lynn ahead, 3-0
- The Fighting Knights scored a run in the bottom of the second without recording a hit
- All with two outs,
Jesse Robinson walked, Orrico was hit by a pitch,
Julio Camarena walked and Fowler was hit by a pitch to score Robinson
- Embry-Riddle put up a two-spot in the top of the third with back-to-back doubles and a single to cut Lynn's lead to two runs, 4-2
- Dougherty turned on a fastball for a deep solo home run to give the Fighting Knights a 5-2 lead through three innings
- The Eagles used a walk and two singles to add a run in the top of the fourth inning

Deric LaMontagne with a double
- A sac fly brought home an unearned run for ERAU in the top of the sixth to bring the score to 6-4 in favor of Lynn
- Embry-Riddle rallied for four unearned runs to take an 8-6 lead in the top of the seventh
- Lynn scored two runs to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth
- After three walks,

- Dougherty was then hit by a pitch as Orrico scored to tie the game, 8-8
- With a runner on third and two outs in the top of the ninth,
David Judge made a diving catch to end the threat
- ERAU scored two runs in the top of the 10
th inning as a pair of singles, a sac bunt and a double gave the visitors a 10-8 lead
- Lynn got the tying runner to the plate in the bottom of the 10
th but the game ended on a double play
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Paulino hit his 11
th home run of the season and has 12 RBI over his last four games
- Dougherty hit his eighth home run of the season and third of the series
- Fowler reached three times and leads the team with a .420 OB%
