Hope Passerello handed out 45 assists as the 22
nd-ranked Lynn University volleyball team shutout Walsh, 3-0, in its home opener, Friday evening.
The win moves Lynn's record to 5-0 and the match served as the opener for the Hyatt Place Bash at the Beach.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Blue and White hit .375 with 51 kills, 50 assists and 49 digs
- Lynn won by scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-16
- The hosts jumped out to a 4-1 lead in set one and later used an 8-2 scoring run for a 16-11 cushion
- Wolf smacked three kills during the outburst
- The Cavaliers answered with a 6-0 run that handed them a 20-19 lead
- The Fighting Knights rallied with four-straight points for a 25-22 win
- The second game was a back-and-forth affair until Lynn used an 8-0 jolt for a 16-9 lead
- Wolf and Olegario each posted two kills during the run
- Two kills from
Samantha Blahut and one from Wolf sealed the 25-17 victory
- The hosts opened up a 10-6 lead in the third set behind two kills from Wolf and two from sophomore
Fabia Gonzalez Stanton
- Walsh trimmed the lead to 16-13 before a quick 6-1 run gave Lynn a 22-14 advantage
- The final was set at 25-16 following a pair of late Walsh errors
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Wolf finished with 17 kills and eights digs, while hitting .484
- Olegario smacked 10 kills and hit .500
- Passerello added seven digs
