BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 22
nd-ranked Lynn University volleyball team picked up wins against Cedarville and West Liberty on the second and final day of the Hyatt Place Bash at the Beach, Saturday. The Fighting Knights improve to 7-0 on the season with 3-0 wins against both the Yellow Jackets and the Hilltoppers.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Cedarville):
- Lynn opened the match with a 25-15 win and added 25-11 and 25-12 scores
- The Blue and White hit .256, including .324 in set two
- The hosts limited Cedarville to a -0.31 hitting percentage with 26 errors
- The first set featured 10 ties and six lead changes and the Fighting Knights emerged from a 14-13 deficit behind a 10-0 run for a 23-14 lead
- Junior
Aline Olegario smacked two late kills for a 25-15 win
- Lynn led from start to finish in set two and opened with a 7-1 lead
- Senior
Maria Cecilia Pinho and graduate
Samantha Wolf each posted two kills as the hosts surged to a 17-4 advantage

Fabia Gonzalez Stanton had two kills late in the set to help land a 25-11 victory
- Lynn dominated the third set and opened up a quick 14-3 lead

Alexis Williams had two aces and Cecilia Pinho had two kills during the outburst

Chloe Riley posted a late kill for the 25-12 win

HOW IT HAPPENED (West Liberty):
- The Fighting Knights rolled 25-13, 25-12 and 25-17 and hit .315
- The hosts limited the Hilltopppers to a -0.56 hitting percentage with 26 errors
- Lynn shock off a sluggish start with a 7-1 run for a 9-5 cushion in the first set
- The hosts took control with a 9-0 run for a 19-7 advantage and sealed the win with kills from Gonzalez Stanton and Wolf
- Lynn never trailed in the second set and quickly opened an 11-2 lead
- A pair of 3-0 runs just past the midway point of the set handed the hosts a 22-9 cushion
- A kill from Passerello and an error from West Liberty closed the set at 25-12
- Lynn opened a 5-1 lead in the third set before the visitors rebounded for leads of 8-7 and 11-9
- The Fighting Knights trailed 15-14, but closed the match by outscoring West Liberty 11-2 down the stretch for the 25-17 win
- Olegario posted three kills during the late run
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
