BOCA RATON, Fla. – The fourth-ranked Lynn University men's soccer team improved to 3-0 overall on the season after defeating 13
th-ranked Mississippi College, 3-2, Sunday. The match covered eight hours after it was started in the early afternoon and finished just after 8:00 pm thanks to thunderstorms in south Florida that delayed the game for several hours.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Choctaws outshot Lynn 14-11, including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal
- The Fighting Knights made the most of their shots on goal, finding the net on all three attempts
- The Blue and White also held a 5-1 advantage in corners and junior keeper
Luca Clavero made five saves for his third win

Henry Haferkorn put Lynn on the board in the 16
th minute when he found the bottom right corner of the net for his first goal of the season

Fabio Menzel was credited with the assist
- The Fighting Knights attempted three more shots in the opening half
- The game was halted with just over five minutes to play until halftime due to lightning and storms in the area
- The contest resumed at 7:00 pm and much of the action came in the second half
- Lynn scored for the second time just 1:02 into the second half when sophomore
Luan Barroso Rennstich slotted a left footed pass to a charging
Fabian Vyhnalek (junior) who sent a hard shot into the lower left corner of the net for a 2-0 lead
- Nearly three minutes later, the Fighting Knights scored again when graduate
Fynn Friedrichs crossed a ball just outside the 18 that graduate
Max Lambertz placed into the upper right corner of the net for a 3-0 cushion
- Mississippi didn't back down as Alvaro Pena scored with his left foot in the 71
st minute and Lewis Matton found the right corner of the net as the visitors pulled to within 3-2 at 73:59
- Clavero saved a header at 74:51 and knocked away a one-on-one opportunity from Matton at 80:07
- Clavero also saved Mississippi's final shot in the 87
th minute to help preserve the 3-2 win
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Vyhnalek and Lambertz each scored for the second time this season
- Four of Clavero's five saves came in the second half
- The Choctaws outshot Lynn 8-5 in the busy second stanza
