LAKELAND, Fla. – The second ranked Lynn men's soccer team won its Sunshine State Conference opener at Florida Southern, 4-0, Saturday night.
Lucas Vila led the Fighting Knights with a pair of goals, while the Lynn defense held FSC to just one shot on goal. The Blue and White are now 5-0 in 2024.
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Luca Clavero made an early save 6:01 into the match

Luan Barroso Rennstich followed with a shot, bottom left, that was saved by FSC goalie Joe O'Shaughnessy
- Off a set piece, Lynn seized an opportunity to take a 1-0 advantage at the 40:40 mark

Fynn Friedrichs' shot was saved and Barroso Rennstich pounced on the rebound and put it under the diving Mocs goalie
- Lynn took a 2-0 edge in the 56th minute

Dominik N'gatie fed a pass to the front of the net to an open
Fabian Vyhnalek
- Vyhnalek's shot hit the crossbar and bounced off a defender's body and into the goal

Luis Kiefer's shot in the 63rd minute went bottom left but was saved
- Lynn took a 3-0 lead in the 74th minute
- Following a Mocs turnover, touch passes by Vyhnalek and
Max Lambertz led to a goal on a strike by Vila
- Less than two minutes later, Vila scored again
- Clavero lobbed an over the top ball that landed at the top of the penalty area
- Vila took a touch and struck with his right foot that landed bottom left for his second goal
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Lynn posted 20 shots (nine on goal) compared to FSC's six shots (one on goal)
- Lynn entered the day ranked second in the nation in goal differential and has now outscored its opponents 19-3
- Clavero recorded his second career assist and 16th career shutout
- Barroso Rennstich and Vyhnalek are tied for the team lead with 10 points (3 G, 4 A each)
- Kiefer and Barroso Rennstich each recorded three shots on goal
