MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The 19th-ranked Lynn University volleyball team hit .310 and graduate
Samantha Wolf posted a double-double in a 3-0 sweep of 25th-ranked Barry University, Friday night. The Fighting Knights continue their record-setting start and are 11-0 following the win over the 8-1 Buccaneers.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn held a 43-32 edge in kills and won by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-21
- The Fighting Knights owned an advantage in aces (8-7), assists (43-29) and digs (33-32)
- In the first set, Lynn trailed 11-10 before recorded six consecutive points to take a commanding 16-11 lead
- A kill by Wolf, with an assist by graduate
Hope Passerello, began a run of three straight points to complete the 25-19 first set
- The Fighting Knights hit .500 in the second set as graduate
Samantha Blahut opened the frame with a kill
- Trailing 20-17, the Blue and White rallied for five consecutive points to take a 22-20 advantage
- Two Wolf kills and a kill by Blahut finished off the set for Lynn
- Graduate
Jazzy Innis posted two kills on a 4-0 run to give Lynn a 9-5 lead to start the third
- Freshman
Ula Gorjup had two service aces on another Fighting Knight 4-0 run to make the score 13-11
- The third set was tied at 17 before Lynn rattled off eight of the next 12 points to finish off the sweep
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- The Blue and White have hit over .300 in eight of their 11 matches
- Lynn is averaging .329 this season and is limiting opponents to a .072 hitting percentage
- Gorjup led all players with five aces
- The Fighting Knights have 82 aces on the season while their opponents have just 33
- Passerello recorded a game high 33 assists
- Wolf (13), Pinho (11) and
Aline Olegario (8) led Lynn in kills
- Wolf leads the Fighting Knights this season with 4.47 points per set and 3.71 kills per set
