BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 19
th-ranked Lynn University men's soccer team used four-second half goals to defeat Lenoir-Rhyne, 4-0, Sunday evening in a battle of two NCAA Tournament stalwarts. The Fighting Knights are now 2-0 for the second-consecutive season and have six goals in those two contests.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn dominated with an 18-4 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in shots on goal

Luca Clavero needed just two second-half saves for his 15
th career shutout

Marco Costa took a shot at 29:37 from the right side just outside the 18 that found the side of the net

Fabio Menzel had a pair of headers late in the opening half that were saved by keeper Cathal Carney
- The Fighting Knights broke on the board when the visitors were whistled for a foul inside the 18 and
Luan Barroso Rennstich connected on the PK in the lower right corner at 48:46

Joao Assis Negrao had a shot turned away at 62:56 by Carney and Costa had a left-footed attempt stopped by Carney at 65:55
- The Fighting Knights connected on three of their next four shots over a seven-minute span
- Barroso Rennstich sent a long ball up the right side in front of the Lynn bench to graduate
Luis Kiefer who sent a low hard shot past the outstretched Carney for a 2-0 lead at 66:30
- Lynn's third goal came when junior
Fabian Vyhnalek collected a saved shot and buried the ball into the left side of the net at 73:13
- Thirty six seconds later and Vyhnalek centered a pass from the end line that found Keifer at the far post for the fourth goal of the night
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Lynn scored four goals in a game twice last season, including a 4-0 defeat of Lees-McRae in the second game of the season
- Keifer now has three goals in the first two games and needs just three more to equal his team-leading six goals last year
- Clavero also started the 2023 season at 2-0 with two shutouts
