BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn women's basketball lost a tough test against Barry 79-71 Wednesday night.
Ella Fiore and
Danielle Montelbano each scored 16 points to lead the Fighting Knights, who dropped to 9-7 overall and 3-6 in the SSC.
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Jess Knight scored Lynn's first two baskets for a 4-2 lead

Rachel Romich's and
Makayla Hemingway each made consecutive layups for a 14-10 Fighting Knight advantage
- A Buccaneer 8-0 run helped the road team take a 20-16 lead after 10 minutes
- Barry led by 10 before Knight made a pair of free throws for Lynn's first points of the second quarter

Danigzy Mantilla drove and dished a pass to Romich for a three-pointer as Lynn cut its deficit to nine with 4:28 showing in the second quarter
- Fiore found herself open under the basket for an easy two points to bring the Fighting Knights within seven
- Romich's pass to Knight under the basket led to a layup to end the half with Lynn trailing 39-32

Kaitlyn Parker started the second half with an offensive rebound and put-back
- Barry took an 11-point lead with 4:41 remaining in the third before Lynn responded with a 15-4 run to tie the game at 51
- Hemingway scored nine points and knocked down two threes during the Fighting Knight spurt
- BU followed with a crucial 10-0 run to take a double-digit lead with 7:51 remaining in regulation
- Fiore stole a pass and went coast-to-coast for a layup as Lynn trailed 61-55

Trinity Mocadlo brought Lynn within six again with a driving left-handed layup with just over five minutes to play

Channing Chappell's three cut the lead to six with under five minutes to play
- Fiore scored six points over a 2:18 stretch but Barry maintained a two-possession lead and eventually held on to a 79-71 win
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Lynn stayed in the game with an advantage in offensive rebounds (15-7), second-chance points (17-6) and bench points (32-15)
- The Blue and White's 15 offensive boards were a season high
- Hemingway scored 11 points in 14 minutes
- Montelbano raised her scoring average to 12.0
- Knight has reached double-figures in scoring in 11 straight games
- Fiore scored a season-high 16 points and is averaging 9.75 rebounds per game over her last four contests
- Lynn is now 4-2 when scoring 70+ points in a game
