KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches announced Lynn men's soccer defender and First Team All-American
Henry Haferkorn as the 2024 Player of the Year after helping the Blue and White lift the NCAA Division II national championship trophy in December.
The 2024 Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Year played and started in 17 games this past season for the Blue and White, logging 1504 minutes of play. As one of the captains, his leadership was instrumental in helping Lynn tie for the best Division II defense in the country, with just 12 goals allowed while he was on the pitch.
Beyond his defensive duties, Haferkorn also made his mark on offense, finishing the 2024 season with three critical goals.
The Dattenn, Germany-native netted the game-winner in Lynn's 1-0 victory against Nova Southeastern on September 29, while his opening goal against Mississippi College at the beginning of the year secured a tight-knit 3-2 win.
Most notably, the German defender struck first in the Blue and White's 3-1 victory in the College Cup semifinal over McKendree which paved the way for Lynn's path to the national championship.
