Vyhnalek and Muenst lead Lynn to NCAA Sweet Sixteen

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lynn men's soccer delivered a composed, disciplined performance on Sunday afternoon, using a dominant second-half push to secure a 2-0 victory over Anderson in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Bobby Campbell Stadium.

Fabian Vyhnalek opened the scoring off a crisp combination from Robin Muenst and Jan Rohrling. Just moments later, Muenst doubled the advantage, giving Lynn full control as its back line locked down the Trojans to seal the postseason win and move on to the next round.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- Lynn generated the early attacking pressure as Muenst and Luan Barroso Rennstich each produced first-half chances, forcing Anderson's goalkeeper into action 
- Muenst delivered Lynn's first dangerous look at 12:44 with a driven shot from the top of the box 
- Minutes later Barroso Rennstich's attempted a low strike to the bottom right corner that was saved in the 15th minute 
- Anderson threatened briefly at 19:46, but Luca Clavero answered with a strong save on a high shot 
- Lynn continued to press as Muenst placed another shot on target in the 25th minute, while Dominik N'Gatie created two late-half chances off Lynn corner kicks to maintain pressure 
- Both goalkeepers closed the half composed, with Clavero securing multiple clean stops as the teams entered halftime deadlocked at 0-0 
- Lynn came out of halftime aggressive, generating early momentum as Muenst forced a save just 90 seconds into the second half 
- The breakthrough arrived in the 52nd minute when Muenst and Rohrling combined to set up Vyhnalek, who finished from outside the box to give Lynn a 1-0 lead 
- From that kickoff, Muesnt pressured quickly to disposes a Trojan defender and slotted home a one-on-one chance with the keeper to make it 2-0 
- Lynn continued attacking with purpose as Vyhnalek narrowly missed a possible third goal in the 57th minute 
-  Clavero answered at the other end with a key stop at the 66 minute mark 
- The Blue and White controlled possession late, generating additional looks from N'Gatie and Barroso Rennstich to keep Anderson under pressure 
- Lynn's back line anchored by Marc Ehmann, Anton Mand, and Paul Brauckmann held firm through the final stretch, limiting Anderson's attempts to distance efforts 
- The Fighting Knights closed out the match with lockdown defense across the final minutes to secure the 2-0 victory and advance in the NCAA Tournament 
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS: 
- The Fighting Knights outshot Anderson 12–5 and held a 5–2 advantage in shots on goal 
- Vyhnalek recorded his second goal of the season with his early strike in the second half, marking the second NCAA Tournament goal of his Lynn career 
- Muenst recorded a goal and an assist (three points), marking his sixth multi-point performance of the year 
- Rohrling added an assist off the bench, marking his second in 2025 
- Clavero posted his sixth clean sheet of the season, making two saves to preserve the shutout 
- He has recorded three shutouts in the NCAA tournament so far in his career with two in 2024 
- Barroso Rennstich and N'Gatie combined for six total shots as Lynn's attack applied consistent pressure across both halves

- Lynn will continue its run in the NCAA Division II Tournament next weekend when it hosts sixth-seeded Mississippi College at Bobby Campbell Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 30 at 3 pm.
