Mocadlo’s season-high 29 fuels Lynn past Ave Maria in Holiday Classic finale

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Trinity Mocadlo delivered a season-best performance as the Lynn women's basketball team closed out the 2025 calendar year with a commanding 79–56 victory over Ave Maria on Sunday afternoon in the finale of the Lynn Holiday Classic. The Fighting Knights led wire-to-wire behind balanced scoring, relentless effort on the glass, and transition offense, improving to 8-5 overall heading into the New Year.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Alana Francis opened the scoring with a layup off a Katie Tiffan assist to put Lynn on the board first, 2-0
- Mocadlo got Lynn to the line early, splitting a pair of free throws to keep the Fighting Knights in front, 3-2
- Danigzy Mantilla sparked a key momentum swing, picking a pocket and finishing a fast-break layup to cut Ave Maria's early lead to three, 9-6
- Angelina DeLeon helped Lynn regain the lead late in the half, knocking down two free throws and then finishing a layup off a Mantilla assist, 10-9
- Serena Baker was steady at the stripe in the closing minutes of the opening period, converting four straight free throws to extend Lynn's advantage, 14-9
- Mocadlo knocked down a three off another Mantilla assist in the final minute of the first to push the Lynn lead to eight, 17-9
- Lynn opened up a double-digit cushion early in the second quarter with a Mocadlo fast-break three and transition layup from Tiffan, 23-10
- The Fighting Knights built separation with second-chance energy as DeLeon buried a three off a Baker offensive rebound, 29-18
- Hannah Wentworth answered an Ave Maria three with a triple of her own off a Mantilla assist, keeping Lynn in control late in the second, 32-22
- DeLeon capped the half by going 3-for-3 at the line in the final 30 seconds as Lynn carried a 35-22 lead into the break
- After a quick Ave Maria push at the start of the second half, DeLeon answered by getting to the line in transition to steady the Blue and White
- Lynn stretched the lead back to double digits as Katie Tiffan converted two free throws off a turnover, 38-27
- Wentworth ignited the offense with a fast-break three, extending Lynn's advantage to 14 midway through the third quarter
- The Fighting Knights capitalized on second chances, highlighted by Mocadlo's putback jumper and later a deep three to take a 16-point cushion, 51-35
- Lynn closed the quarter strong as Mocadlo knocked down a second-chance three in the final minute, giving the Fighting Knights a 59-44 lead heading into the fourth
- Ave Maria opened the fourth with a bucket in the paint, but Lynn answered quickly as Mocadlo finished a fast-break layup to restore a 15-point cushion, 61-46
- DeLeon took advantage of a shooting foul and knocked down two free throws, pushing Lynn's lead to 17, 63-46
- Mocadlo buried a three-pointer off a DeLeon assist to extend the advantage to 18, 66-48
- The Fighting Knights blew the game open with back-to-back second-chance threes from Karishma Ortiz, stretching the lead past 20, 74-53
- Lynn continued to win the hustle plays late, as Kennedi Neale scored on a second-chance tip-in to make it 76-54
- Phantasia Lauriston capped the closing stretch with a second-chance three in the final 15 seconds, pushing the lead to 79-55
- Lynn closed the quarter with energy on both ends, including a late Ortiz block, to cap off the victory, 79-56
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Mocadlo recorded a season-high 29 points on 9-15 shooting from the field, 5-9 from beyond the arc and 6-9 from the charity stripe
- She also added a team-high eight rebounds, two steals and two assists
- Mocadlo ranks second in the SSC in total points with 192 so far this season
- DeLeon added 18 points, going 4-9 from the field and 9-12 at the free-throw line, while also grabbing five rebounds
- Mantilla dished out 10 assists in the contest, marking the most in a game for the Blue and White this season
- Lynn outscored Ave Maria 24-22 in the third quarter and 20-12 in the fourth, maintaining control throughout the second half
- The Fighting Knights finished with 24 fast-break points and 20 second-chance points, capitalizing on pace and effort plays
- Lynn won the rebounding battle 46-37, including 17 offensive boards, fueling its offensive efficiency
- Lynn shot 72.7% from the free-throw line and attempted 33 free throws, making a season-high 24 shots from the charity stripe
- Tiffan crossed the 100 point mark this season, recording five points in Sunday's win

Lynn returns to action in the New Year as the Fighting Knights head to Saint Leo on January 3 for a conference matchup with the Lions set for 2:00 pm.
