Men's lacrosse dominates in season opener

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Lynn University men's lacrosse team opened the 2025 season in dominant fashion, securing a commanding 13-4 victory over North Greenville on Friday afternoon. The Blue and White combined a strong offensive showing and a stifling defensive performance to earn an emphatic first win of the 2025 season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- Lynn jumped out to an early lead scoring the first three goals of the game in the opening four minutes from Nick Calleri, Will Beck, and Mario Leone 
- North Greenville responded with two goals, but Connor Houston and Brian Hoskins closed out the opening quarter with a pair of goals to give Lynn a 5-2 lead 
- The Fighting Knights took complete control in the second quarter, outscoring North Greenville 5-0
- Goals scored by Leone, Leo Letta, Mitch Rini, Calleri, and Hoskins gave Lynn a commanding 10-2 lead at halftime
- The defensive unit held firm in the second half, allowing just one goal in each of the final two quarters
- Calleri and Leone completed their hat tricks in the third quarter at the 9:26 and 6:17 mark respectively
 - Tyler Van Wart added a man-up goal to extend the lead to 13-3 still with 2:35 left in the third quarter
- North Greenville found the net once again at the 2:35 mark in the fourth to make it 13-4
- The Blue and White maintained the score until the very end, securing  its' first win of the season
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS: 
- Calleri and Leone led the way with three goals each 
- Rini scored a brace on the day 
- Preseason All-American Jackson Cutter recorded two assists 
- Goalkeeper Tristan Lenard made 13 saves on 17 shots faced on goal 
- Lynn had a 24-17 advantage in shots on goal 
- The Fighting Knights dominated faceoffs winning 14 of 20 attempts 
- Lynn also dominated on the ground outpacing the opposition 29-17 on ground balls

- Lynn will look to continue its strong start when it returns home to host Farmingdale State on Friday, Feb. 21 at 4:00 pm
