Hoskins’ goal secures Lynn victory in overtime thriller

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University men's lacrosse team delivered a thrilling finish in the 2025 home opener, securing a 10-9 overtime victory over Farmingdale State on Friday afternoon. Brian Hoskins was the hero of the night, netting the golden goal just 50 seconds into the extra period to lift the Fighting Knights to a 2-0 start to the 2025 season. 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- Farmingdale State struck first with a goal at the 14:01 mark of the opening quarter 
- Lynn responded quickly as Leo Letta converted a man-up opportunity, assisted by Mario Leone, to tie the game at 1-1 with 12:57 left in the first 
- After two quick Farmingdale goals, Brian Hoskins answered with a man-up goal of his own at 7:31 to make it 3-2 
- Nick Calleri tied the game at 3-3 with 3:35 remaining in the first, courtesy of a Dom Veratti assist 
- Connor Houston closed out the first quarter with a crucial goal, assisted by Hoskins, to trim the deficit to 5-4 
- Farmingdale opened the second quarter with another goal, but Lynn roared back with goals from Leone and Chase Cavalier, tying the game at 6-6 heading into halftime 
- The Fighting Knights took their first lead in the third quarter behind goals from Houston, Mitch Rini, and Veratti, pushing the score to 9-7 
- The Rams rallied in the fourth, netting two goals to tie the game 9-9 at 7:22 to force overtime 
- In the overtime period, Hoskins sealed the win, burying the golden goal off a feed from Veratti just 50 seconds in to win the game, 10-9 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS: 
- Hoskins had two goals and an assist on the night 
- Houston also netted a brace, while Calleri, Leone, Letta, Cavalier, Rini, and Veratti each scored once 
- Veratti recorded two assists, while Cavalier, Leone, and Jackson Cutter each tallied one 
- Goalkeeper Tristan Lenard made eight saves on 17 shots faced 
- Lynn outshot Farmingdale 49-35 and held a dominant 31-14 edge in ground balls 
- The Blue and White dominated faceoffs winning 15 of 22 attempts and left the Rams with just seven wins
