Lynn moves into 2nd in SSC, Smith drops 28

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Carson Smith's first double-double (28 points, 11 rebounds) of the season carried Lynn to a 92-78 road win against Barry on Wednesday evening. Smith made six threes as the Fighting Knights shot 48.4% from beyond the arc, making 15 of 31 attempts.

Leo Beath (17), Osei Price (13) and Jordan Wilkins (13) also reached double figures in scoring to help Lynn improve to 17-7 overall and 12-6 in the Sunshine State Conference. The Blue and White now sit in second place in the SSC with two games remaining in the regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Price and Smith assisted on each other's threes to give Lynn a 6-2 lead less than a minute into the game
- The Fighting Knights regained the lead after Wilkins hit a three and Beath hit an inside shot, 11-9
- Down 23-19, Wilkins and Smith hit back-to-back three-pointers to again take a two-point advantage with 9:05 left in the first half
- Beath's and-one started a 21-4 Lynn run to close the opening half
- The Blue and White held the Buccaneers without a field goal over the final 3:30 of the opening frame
- Smith had 17 points (4-for-5 from three) and six rebounds at the break while Lynn owned a 27-15 rebounding advantage over the first 20 minutes
- Price's three put the Fighting Knight margin at 21, 58-37, with 17:54 left in regulation
- Each team made shots from beyond the arc but Austin Vick's layup pushed the Lynn lead back to 20 with 11:37 showing on the clock
- JP Baron recorded his own 5-0 run for a 25-point Fighting Knight advantage
- Beath slammed home an offensive rebound for an 83-61 score
- Barry closed the game with a mini run to cut the Lynn lead to 14 for a 92-78 final

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Smith's 28 points were a season high and he is shooting over 40% from three this season (75-for-187)
- His 3.1 threes per game rank second in the SSC
- Beath is shooting 52% from the field (63-for-121) over his last eight games, averaging 21.3 points
- Wilkins was 4-for-7 from downtown and is averaging 4.8 threes per game over his last seven contests
- Lynn owned a 49-35 rebounding advantage, including 16-8 on the offensive glass
- The Fighting Knights are averaging 88.1 points per game this season and have scored over 90 in three straight
- Lynn has won four of its last six games against Barry but this was the Fighting Knights first road win against the Bucs since 2013
