TAMPA, Fla. – Lynn lost both ends of its doubleheader against No. 6 Tampa on Saturday, 9-2 and 14-8. Freshman
Bryant Zayas doubled, homered and drove in four runs over the two games and
Blake Mayberry led off game two with a solo shot, but the Fighting Knights fell below .500 to 6-8 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- The Spartans scored six runs in the bottom of the first to take a commanding lead
- Two hits in each the second and third innings led to a single Tampa run in each frame for an 8-0 score
- A 4-6-3 double play by the Fighting Knights ended the fourth inning

Bryant Zayas hit a two-run shot, scoring
Shawn Dougherty, to put Lynn on the board in the top of the sixth
- Tampa led off the bottom of the inning with two walks to eventually score its ninth run

Chase Wills struck out two batters in a clean seventh inning

DJ Flowers all reached in the top of the ninth but Tampa got through the inning unscathed for a 9-2 final
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 1):
- Fowler posted his fourth consecutive multi-hit game
- Zayas hit his first home run as a Fighting Knight
- Wills pitched three perfect innings, striking out three
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- Mayberry led off the game with a home run
- Fowler singled and was driven in on
David Judge's base hit for a 2-0 Lynn lead
- The Spartans responded in the bottom half of the first with a walk, double and triple for three runs
- Five hits to start the top of the second led to five Fighting Knight runs

Ivan Herrera started the rally with a single up the middle and Dougherty followed with a double down the line
- Herrera scored on Zayas' single and
Jesse Robinson hit a two-run double in Lynn's next at bat
- Fowler's sac fly scored Robinson for a 7-3 Fighting Knight lead
- The Blue and White added another run in the third when
Amaris Harrison led off the frame with a single and later scored on a Zayas sac fly to right
- Tampa scored a pair of runs in the third to cut the deficit to three, 8-5
- The Spartans started the fourth with two doubles and eventually added three runs to tie the game at eight
- The home team again scored three runs in the fifth to take the lead and added a run in the sixth and seventh to go up 13-8
- The Fighting Knights loaded the bases with no outs in the eighth but were unable to score
- Tampa scored an unearned run in the eighth inning and the Fighting Knights went down in order in the ninth to end the game
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 2):
- Fowler extended his hitting streak to nine games
- Mayberry is slugging .545 this season and nine of his 18 hits have gone for extra bases
- Robinson leads the team in runs (14) and RBI (13)
- Zayas drove in two runs in each game of the doubleheader
- Herrera reached base three times
- Dougherty recorded his first multi-hit game of 2025
