BOCA RATON, Fla. – Two homers and a trio of pitchers guided Lynn to a 5-1 win over Eckerd on Friday afternoon.
Shawn Dougherty hit a two-run shot and drove in three to lead the Fighting Knights.
Cole Fowler also homered, scored twice and extended his hitting streak to 10 games. On the mound, starter
Bryce Pratt pitched two shutout innings in his season debut,
Brad Benton tossed four scoreless to earn the win and lower his season ERA to 1.06 and
Nathan Shane pitched the final three innings to pick up his fourth save of the year.
Lynn is not 7-8 overall and 1-3 in the SSC.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Pratt struck out two batters in a scoreless top of the first inning

Blake Mayberry and
Jesse Robinson led off the bottom of the first with singles but were left stranded
- Pratt struck out two more in a 1-2-3 top of the second
- Paulino led off the bottom of the frame with a double and Mayberry later singled in another scoreless in for Lynn
- Eckerd loaded the bases with one out in the third but Benton induced two pop outs to get out of the jam
- After
David Judge walked, Dougherty smacked a long homer to right for a 2-0 Fighting Knight lead
- With a runner in scoring position, Benton recorded a swinging strikeout for another scoreless frame of relief
- Fowler launched a solo homer to center for a 3-0 Blue and White lead through five
- Eckerd scored its lone run on an RBI triple in the top of the seventh
- Lynn added a pair of insurance runs as Dougherty added a third RBI in a two-run bottom of the seventh
- Shane struck out two in a clean top of the eighth and pitched the final inning for his fourth save of the season
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Pratt (4), Benton (3) and Shane (6) combined for 13 strikeouts – a season high for Lynn this season
- Dougherty is 5-for-10 over his last three games and has 14 career home runs as a Fighting Knight
- Mayberry recorded his sixth multi-hit game of the season
- Robinson reached twice to raise his season OB% to .349
- Paulino played in his 100
th game at Lynn and hit his 26
th career double
