BOCA RATON, Fla.- The No. 12-ranked Lynn University women's lacrosse team made a big splash in the 2025 home opener on Saturday evening, defeating the seventh-ranked Flagler Saints in a high-scoring 12-8 contest.
Lynn improved to a perfect 3-0 on the year while Flagler dropped to 1-3 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Blue and White went on the attack early as Elizabeth Clagett tallied the opening goal at the 5:49 mark to put the Fighting Knights up early, 1-0.
- Just one minute and 10 seconds later, Clagett struck again on an unassisted shot to give Lynn a speedy 2-0 lead.
- The Fighting Knights went on to tally another goal at the start of the second as Rebecca Clark found Kristyn Johnson for a 3-0 Lynn lead.
- Flagler found its first goal at the 10:32 mark in the second period, courtesy of CLaudia Tanksley, 3-1.
- Clark netted the final goal of the half from Clagett with two-minutes remaining to give Lynn a 4-1 lead heading into half-time.
- Immediately out of the break, the Saints stormed back with a goal to cut the Blue and White lead in half, 4-2.
- Lynn responded in a big way, scoring five more times in the third with goals from Clagett (2), Clark, Ella Timperio and Olivia Fox as the Fighting Knights took a commanding 9-3 lead heading into the final frame of play.
- Clark wasted no time finding the goal in the fourth, netting her third of the day to put Lynn up by seven, 10-3.
- Flagler their groove a bit in the fourth, scoring five goals in quick order.
- However, Lynn managed to score two more from Hannah Exley and Fox as the Fighting Knights knocked off the seventh-ranked Saints, 12-8.
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Ava Cegilia (2-0) picked up her second win at goalkeeper in 2025, recording five saves in a complete game performance.
- In her first game of the season, Clagett made defenders pay with her four-goal performance, she also tallied one assist and won six draw controls.
- Clark continued her hot start to the year, recording two or more goals in all three games this season.
- Fox also had a multi-goal performance, tallying two in the 12-8 win.
- Johnson has remained a dominant attacker, recording goals in all three Fighting Knight wins in 2025.
