BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn lost both ends of its doubleheader against Florida Tech on Saturday by scores of 6-0 and 9-0 (5 innings). After winning eight games in a row, Lynn has dropped back below .500 at 14-15. The Fighting Knights stole three more bases and lead the SSC with 88 swipes this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- Florida Tech kicked off the game on a first inning flurry, scoring two runs on two hits to take an early 2-0 lead.
- The Panthers added another run in the second, stealing home on a drawn-out rundown, 3-0.
- Florida Tech tallied another run in familiar fashion, stealing home once again in the fourth, 4-0.
- Haley Rider of Florida Tech sent a ball over the fence to give Florida Tech a 5-0 edge by the end of the fifth.
- The Fighting Knights tallied back-to-back hits from Kylee Dodson and Kyleigh Hope in the bottom of the fifth.
- Florida Tech closed out the game with one final run in the seventh to take game one of the doubleheader, 6-0.
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 1):
- Pitcher Gabriella Lindsey (4-6) went 4.1 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits with three strikeouts.
- Reliever Kayley Zazzali closed out the game, going 2.2 innings while allowing one run on four hits.
- Kyra Sunga extended her hitting streak to six-game with a double in the sixth inning.
- Hope has tallied a hit in three of her last five starts.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- Florida Tech took an early 2-0 lead on two hits and an error in the top of the first.
- Anabel O'Donnell and Teagan Riley each singled in the bottom of the second and Cameron Buzzell walked but Lynn left the bases loaded.
- Tech hit a two-run homer during a five-run third inning.
- Aiyana Hicks singled and stole a base in a scoreless bottom of the fourth.
- Two singles, a double and triple gave the Panthers a 9-0 lead.
- The Blue and White went down in order in the fifth to end the game.
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 2):
- Hicks stole her 19th base of the season.
- O'Donnell has a steal in three straight contests and five of her last six.
- The Fighting Knights have stolen 88 bases on 100 attempts this season.
