BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn fell to No. 16 Rollins 20-6 on Friday afternoon in the series opener of a three-game set. The Fighting Knights racked up 10 hits in the loss as
Shawn Dougherty reached base safely in all five of his plate appearances and
Nick Petrelli had an RBI single in his first at bat as a Fighting Knight.
Lynn is now 15-11 this season and 4-6 in the SSC.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Rollins struck first in the top of the third, loading the bases before scoring four runs on a walk and a bases-clearing double, 4-0
- The Tars added insurance in the top of the fourth, boosting their lead up to 11-0 on seven hits including three home runs
- Rollins added two runs in the top of the fifth before piling another two in the sixth to go up 15-0
- Lynn got on the board in the bottom of the sixth as
Leon Paulino cashed in
Jesse Robinson from second, 15-1
- The Blue and White rally continued with back-to-back knocks from
David Judge and
Amaris Harrison to cut the Tars' lead to 11, 15-4
- The Tars boosted their lead by three in the top of the seventh on a homer out to left, 18-
- The Fighting Knights struck back in the bottom of the eighth as
Nick Petrelli blasted a single up the middle to score Shawn Daugherty, 18-5
- Rollins capped off the game with two more runs before Lynn finished off the ninth with one final run on
