MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Lynn and Barry split a doubleheader on Friday with the Fighting Knights winning the first game, 6-4, and the Buccaneers taking the nightcap, 7-3.
Ivan Herrera helped the Fighting Knights win the opener by reaching three times, including hitting a solo home run, while
Leon Paulino hit a go-ahead RBI double in the top of the ninth.
Cole Fowler totaled three doubles over the two games and
Shawn Dougherty has now recorded multiple hits in five straight games.
Lynn is 17-13 overall and 6-8 in the SSC while Barry moves to 17-15 and 6-8 this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):

Blake Mayberry led off the game with a single and later advanced to third on
Jesse Robinson's base hit
- Fowler drove in Mayberry on a grounder for a 1-0 Fighting Knights lead
- Catcher Herrera caught a runner trying to steal second to end the first inning
- Lynn added a second run in the second inning after three consecutive singles by
David Judge, Herrera and
Bryant Zayas
- Starting pitcher
Mason Tinsley pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the third
- Herrera pulled a 2-1 pitch over the left field wall to give the Fighting Knights a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth
- With runners on first and second and one out in the bottom of the frame, Tinsley induced a fly out and recorded an inning-ending strikeout
- Lynn led 4-0 after Fowler doubled and Dougherty drove him home on a single
- Tinsley needed just 13 pitches to get out of the fifth inning on three ground outs
- The Bucs mounted a comeback with two runs each in the sixth and seventh innings to tie the game on just two hits over the stretch
- Lynn took the lead in the top of the ninth with some two-out thunder
- Fowler doubled to left center to start the rally
- Paulino gave Lynn the lead with a double to the opposite field
- Dougherty added an insurance run with a base hit to score Paulino
- Barry had two runners reach in the bottom of the ninth but reliever
Nathan Shane closed the door for a 6-4 final
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 1):

- The Buccaneers struck first on an unearned run in the bottom of the first
- Lynn responded with a run in the top of the second as Dougherty reached on a single and later scored on a base hit by Zayas
- With runners on second and third and one out, starter
Ryan DiMaggio induced a pop out and ground out to end the fourth inning
- The Blue and White scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning
- Robinson's single was followed by a double by Fowler
- Paulino knocked in Robinson with a grounder to second
- Dougherty's single to right scored Fowler to give Lynn a 3-1 lead
- Two doubles plated a run for the Bucs in the bottom of the fifth to climb within one, 3-2
- Barry took the lead in the sixth inning on sac fly and single
- A double, walk and error led to three more runs for the home team in the bottom of the seventh
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 2):
- Robinson went 3-for-4 to raise his season average to .354 and stole his ninth base of the year
- Dougherty recorded his fifth straight multi-hit game and has raised his average 60 points over the stretch
- Fowler hit his third double of the day and ninth of the season
- DiMaggio allowed just one earned run over five innings
