BOCA RATON, Fla. – Ahmir Cournier hit a three-run homer and
Mason Tinsley pitched six shutout innings in Lynn's 8-1 victory over New Haven on Friday morning. Four Fighting Knights had multiple hits as the team improved to 9-9 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Two walks and two hit-by-pitches allowed Lynn to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning
- After
DJ Flowers and
Blake Mayberry walked in the second inning,
Jesse Robinson and
Cole Fowler followed with singles as Lynn added two more runs
- Tinsley faced the minimum through three innings pitched
- Cournier doubled the Lynn lead with a three-run homer to left in the bottom of the third, scoring Flowers and
Ivan Herrera for a 6-0 score
- Tinsley worked around a leadoff double in the top of the fourth and induced a 5-4-3 double play in the top of the fifth to continue his scoreless outing
- Fowler hit a two-out double in the bottom of the fifth and
Leon Paulino singled him home for the Fighting Knights' eighth run
- The Chargers scored a run in the ninth before two groundouts ended the game for an 8-1 Lynn win

- Lynn hit .333 (7-for-21) with runners on and held New Haven to a .167 average in such situations (2-for-12)
