DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- The Lynn University softball team dropped the first game of a three-game Sunshine State Series series to Embry-Riddle, Friday night. The Fighting Knights took an early 1-0 lead on three hits before falling behind in the later innings, 5-1.

Lynn fell to 17-22 overall and 3-16 in Sunshine State Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Fighting Knights recorded back-to-back hits in the top of the first, courtesy of
Aun'Yale Howard and
Kyra Sunga
- Lynn jumped out in front first as
Kyleigh Hope was awarded an RBI via a fielder's choice in the bottom of the second, 1-0
- The Blue and White suffered a costly error in the top of the first as the Eagles got on the board in the top of the third, 1-1
- Embry-Riddle took the lead in the top of the fourth, scoring on an RBI single, 2-1
- The Eagles picked up two more runs in the top of the fifth on one hit and two Lynn miscues to take a three-run lead, 4-1
- A Fighting Knight mishap resulted in another Eagle run scored in the top of the sixth, 5-1
- The Blue and White fought to strike back but came up just short by the end of the seventh as the Eagles took game one, 5-1

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
-Pitcher
Madi Prickett (9-13) went 5.2 innings, allowing five runs (two earned) on six hits
- She allowed two walks and tallied four strikeouts

Kayley Zazzali finished off the final 1.1 innings of the contest, allowing no hits
- Howard's hit streak continued to nine with her single on Friday
- Sunga has tallied a hit in every conference series opener this season
