Lynn rallies to sweep Embry-Riddle in Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Lynn completed a series sweep of Embry-Riddle on Saturday after defeating the Eagles 7-2 in the first game and coming back from a 3-0 deficit in the ninth inning to win 4-3 in 10 innings in the nightcap.

Ryan DiMaggio struck out seven over 7.1 innings to earn the win in the opener, as Cole Fowler stayed hot with two doubles and three runs scored.

Down three in the second game, Fowler started a rally in the top of the ninth as Leon Paulino, Ivan Herrera and Ahmir Cournier knocked in runs to tie the game. Paulino later drove in the game-winning run in extras.

The Fighting Knights are now 23-14 overall and 12-9 in the SSC.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- Fowler led off the top of the fourth with a double to right
- Shawn Dougherty drove Fowler home on a single for a 1-0 Lynn lead
- DiMaggio struck out two batters in a 1-2-3 bottom of the fifth inning
- Juan Carlos Camarena drove in Fowler with a single in the top of the sixth
- Later in the frame, Paulino scored on a wild pitch for a 3-0 score
- The Fighting Knights added two more runs in the seventh in an inning with a single by Bryant Zayas, double by Fowler and single from Dougherty
- A pair of two-out hits by the Eagles put them on the board in the bottom of the seventh as Lynn led 5-1
- Three Eagle hits added a second run for the home team in the eighth
- Paulino led off the ninth with a double and scored on a sac fly by Camarena
- Amaris Harrison's double scored Dougherty for a 7-2 Lynn advantage
- Reliever Nathan Shane retired the Eagles in order to end the game in the bottom of the ninth

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 1):
- DiMaggio's pitching line: 7.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 7 SO
- Fowler hit two doubles, scored three times and walked
- Paulino is 7-for-14 over his last three games
- Camarena has recorded multiple RBI four times since March 15 (eight games)
- Harrison went 2-for-4 with a double, walk and RBI
- Zayas recorded his third-straight multi-hit game

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- Starter Noah Lucia struck out three batters and faced the minimum through two innings
- Embry-Riddle broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run double
- ERAU added a third run in the bottom of the seventh
- A double play in the bottom of the eighth helped keep the Lynn deficit at three runs
- The Blue and White rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth
- Fowler led off the inning with a single and scored on Paulino's double
- After Dougherty singled to put runners on first and third, Herrera went the other way for a base hit to drive in Paulino and cut ERAU's lead to one run
- Cournier's fielder's choice scored Dougherty to tie the game at three
- Reliever Chase Wills pitched a clean bottom of the ninth
- Jesse Robinson drew a walk and Fowler's single put runners on first and third with one out in the top of the 10th
- Paulino's fielder's choice scored Robinson for a 4-3 Fighting Knight lead
- In the bottom of the 10th, an error and wild pitch put the tying run in scoring position but a pair of fly outs ended the game for a Lynn victory

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 2):
- Fowler was 10-for-14 with seven runs and seven RBI in the series
- Paulino extended his hitting streak to run scoring streak to seven games
- Dougherty reached base eight times over the three-game series
- Mayberry added two hits to raise his season average to .318
- Wills pitched two innings without allowing a hit or walk to pick up the win
