Robinson walks off Mocs, Lynn sweeps No. 6 Florida Southern

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn completed a series sweep of No. 6 Florida Southern by taking both ends of its Friday doubleheader by scores of 21-9 and 5-4.
 
Lynn posted a season-high 21 runs and 23 hits in the opener. A day after hitting for the cycle, Cole Fowler went 5-for-6 with a grand slam, double, three runs scored and seven RBI.
 
In the final game of the series, the Fighting Knights overcame a 4-3 deficit in the bottom of the ninth, as Jesse Robinson's walk-off single brought home the game-winning run to secure the sweep. Lynn outscored FSC 41-11 over the three games.
 
The Blue and White have won eight games in a row and are now 26-14 overall and 15-9 in the SSC.
  
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- The Lynn offense picked up where it left off in the series opener as Leon Paulino cashed in the opening run on an RBI single in the bottom of the first
- The scorching bat of Fowler struck again in the bottom of the second as the senior third baseman blasted a grand slam over the right field fence to put Lynn up 5-0
- Paulino added on in the fourth, launching a double off the fence to score two more
- A wild pitch then allowed Paulino to make it home before Juan Carlos Camarena tripled to score two more and give the Blue and White a 10-0 edge
- David Judge rounded out the frame with an RBI single as the Lynn lead extended out to 11-0
- The Mocs scored in the fifth scoring on an error and a two-run home run to cut into Lynn's lead, 11-3
- The Blue and White answered back with an RBI single from Paulino to bring their lead back to nine
- Florida Southern chipped away in the sixth, rallying for two runs to bring the Lynn lead down to seven, 12-5
- The Fighting Knights added a pair of runs in the sixth courtesy of RBIs from Blake Mayberry and Robinson
- The Mocs continued to cut away at the Fighting Knights' lead, picking up another two runs in the top of the seventh on a two-run homer
- In the seventh inning, Shawn Dougherty and Camarena scored on back-to-back wild pitches to give Lynn a nine-run cushion
- Bryant Zayas and Mayberry cracked back-to-back doubles to score two more before Fowler continued his dominant stretch at the plate with a three-run shot to give Lynn a 21-7 advantage
- Pitcher Nathan Shane closed out the game in favor of the Fighting Knights
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 1):
Fowler tied a season-high with seven RBI and five hits 
He is hitting .760 (19-for-25) over his last five games to raise his season average to an SSC-leading .426
He recorded his fourth multi-homer game of the year and leads the SSC with 14 home runs this season
Mayberry had a season-high four hits and has multiple hits in six of his last seven contests
Robinson scored a season-high four runs to reach 42 for the year
Paulino went 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI to raise his season average to .305
Camarena scored a season-high three runs and had two extra-base hits (double, triple)
Judge recorded his eighth multi-hit game of the season
Lynn set a season-high with 21 runs scored and 23 hits
Fighting Knight pitching recorded nine strikeouts and issued just two walks
Ryan DiMaggio improved to 5-3 while Shane picked up his eighth save
 
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- The series finale proved to be a pitchers' duel early with both starting pitchers allowing just one hit apiece heading into the fourth inning
- The Fighting Knights broke the scoreless streak in the fourth as Paulino blasted a single up the middle to score two
- The Mocs answered back in the fifth with a run as Lynn limited the damage with an accurate throw from Paulino to gun down a potential run at home plate, 2-1
- Florida Southern tied things up in the sixth with a run scored on a hit and a Fighting Knight error
- Lynn gave up its first lead of the afternoon on a throwing error in the seventh to go down 3-2
- With two outs in the seventh, Mayberry put the Blue and White back in the game with an RBI double to knot the game up at three
- The Mocs loaded the bases in the top of the eighth as the Lynn defense held Florida Southern to just one run on a sacrifice fly
- Harrison led off the bottom of the ninth with an opposite field double
- Later in the frame, Zayas laid down a perfect bunt to score Harrison from third and tie things up at 4-4
- Robinson was the hero of the series finale, dropping in a hit over the head of the centerfielder with two outs to walk-off the Mocs, 5-4
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 2):
- Robinson hit .400 during the series to raise his season average to .349
- Paulino recorded his seventh and eighth RBI of the series
- Fowler reached twice to raise his season OB% to .463 while Mayberry reached safely three times to raise his season OB% to .431
- Noah Lucia's pitching line: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 SO
- Lucia owns a 3.07 ERA this season over 29.1 innings pitched
- Chase Wills earned the win, pitching 1.2 scoreless inning of relief to improve to 2-0
