Lynn holds firm 11-7 victory over No. 15 Embry-Riddle

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Three players scored twice as Lynn's men's lacrosse team took down No. 15 Embry-Riddle 11-7 on Wednesday night in Sunshine State Conference play. The Fighting Knights never trailed and built a 6-2 lead by halftime, holding off a late push from the Eagles to secure the win. 
 
The Fighting Knights improved their record to 2-1 in the SSC and 7-3 overall. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- Mitch Rini struck first with 10:20 on the board for a solo goal, 1-0  
- Embry-Riddle tied the game shortly after but Jackson Cutter responded with a goal of his own to make it a 2-1 score for the Blue and White  
- Lynn went on to score three goals in the second period 
- Ethan McKinley scored the first goal of the second period with 10:38 left of play, 3-1 
- Mario Leone put himself on the scoresheet for the first time in the game with a goal in the ninth minute with the assist from Dom Veratti, 4-1  
- Nick Calleri found Cutter with 7:10 left in the quarter for his second of the night and fifth goal for Lynn in the game  
- Three total goals happened in the last four minutes of the period with the Eagles scoring two  
- Lynn's Jack McKay scored a solo goal off the face-off to go into the half with a 6-2 advantage for Lynn  
- Embry scored two back-to-back in the third period to reduce Lynn's lead, 6-4  
- The Fighting Knights responded with two consecutive goals of their own with McKay getting his second of the night with 3:29 on the board  
- Chase Cavalier found Connor Zombro for his first goal of the game at 1:15 for an 8-5 lead  
- After Embry ended the third quarter with a goal just 10 seconds later 
- Lynn responded with three goals in the fourth quarter  
- Brian Hoskins scored the first of the fourth period just two and a half minutes in, 9-6  
- At the eight-minute mark, Connor Houston scored with the assist from Leone, 10-6  
- Rini got his brace with a solo goal at 7:17 in the fourth, 11-6  
- Embry-Riddle added a late goal before the final buzzer as Lynn held on for an 11-7 victory 
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:  
- Cutter, Rini, and McKay each scored two goals  
- Cutter and Rini are leveled at 12 goals this season  
- McKinley, Hoskins and Leone each had a goal and an assist this game  
- McKinley has now tallied five goals in 2025  
- Houston's fourth quarter goal gives him 14 this year for a team high 
- Leone is just below him with 13 total goals this year  
- Hoskins and Cutter lead the Blue and White with 10 assists  
- Goalkeeper Hunter Klosterman made 10 saves in 57 minutes of play  
- Tristan Lenard made his fourth appearance for the Fighting Knights this season with three minutes left in the fourth quarter, registering a save  
- Lynn outshot Embry-Riddle, 42-32  
- The Fighting Knights only had seven turnovers compared to the Eagles' 22
