BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University men's lacrosse team put forth a strong effort against the top–ranked team in the nation Tampa but ultimately fell 11-6 on Saturday afternoon at Bobby Campbell Stadium.
The Fighting Knights now sit at 7-4 overall and 2-2 in Sunshine State Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Tampa jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first two minutes before
Mitch Rini put Lynn on the board on an assist from
Jackson Cutter at the 11:30 mark
- In the second quarter, Rini had a shot saved at the 11:36 mark as Tampa held a firm 2-1 lead
- The Spartans extended their lead to 5-2 by halftime
- The third quarter saw Lynn catch fire with four total goals

Dom Veratti scored a solo goal for the Fighting Knights to maintain a three-goal differential with 9:16 left to play in the third, 6-3

Camren Santos picked up a ground ball at the 5:38 mark and ran straight for the net, 8-4
- Santos won the next face off as Lynn kept possession for almost a minute before Cavalier Chase found the back of the net, 8-5
- Veratti added his second of the game on a man-up opportunity with 3:01 remaining in the third to make it a two-goal game, 8-6
- Tampa responded with three unanswered goals in the final quarter and a half to close out the game, 11-6
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Veratti led the way with two goals on four shots
- That puts his total at seven goals this season
- Rini, Leone, Santos, and Cavalier each scored once
- Leone is now tied with Houston as Lynn's top scorer this season (14 goals)
- Klosterman totaled 14 saves, bringing his season total to 111
- This is his fourth game recording over 10 saves in 2025
- Lynn was offensively efficient in the third quarter scoring on four of nine attempts
- The Fighting Knights won 9 of 21 face-offs and were 2-for-4 on extra-man opportunities
- Lynn completed 17-of-19 clear attempts
