SAINT LEO, Fla. – Lynn split its doubleheader with Saint Leo on Saturday, dropping the opener 8-13 and bouncing back with an 8-3 win in the nightcap. In game two, starter
Nathan Shane allowed just two runs over seven innings while
David Judge hit a grand slam and
Cole Fowler recorded four hits.
Lynn took two of three in the series to improve to 28-15 overall and 17-10 in the SSC.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- Lynn struck first with three runs in the top of the first

Leon Paulino scored on a wild pitch and
Ivan Herrera doubled home Dougherty
- A couple of Lynn miscues and four hits led to a six-run bottom of the second inning for the Lions
- The Fighting Knights climbed to within one with two runs in the top of the third

Jesse Robinson led off the frame with a single and later scored on a wild pitch, while
Amaris Harrison's bunt single plated Paulino
- Saint Leo jumped to a 12-5 advantage with help from to three-run innings
- Lynn fought for three runs in the ninth on a two-run double by Paulino and RBI single from Herrera for a 13-8 final score
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- Fowler blasted a solo homer to right-center in the top of the first to start the scoring
- Saint Leo tied the game on an attempted double steal in the bottom of the second
- Lynn retook a one-run lead in the top of the fourth when
Juan Carlos Camarena's single brought home Paulino
- Another run scored in the fifth when
David Judge led off the frame with a double and was driven in on
Blake Mayberry's sac fly
- A 1-2-3 inning for Shane was finished off with a strikeout
- After the Lions scored, Lynn rallied for five runs in the top of the eighth
- Singles by Dougherty, Camarena and Harrison loaded the bases
- Judge then pulled a pitch deep to left for a grand slam to open up a 7-2 lead
- Doubles by Mayberry and Fowler added another run
- Reliever
Chase Wills closed out the game with a double play and flyout for an 8-3 final score
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Robinson (3), Paulino (3), Herrera (2) and Harrision (2) all had multiple hits in the opener
- Fowler hit his SSC-leading 16
th home run of the year and has five games with at least four hits over his nine-game hitting streak
- Judge had a season-high four RBI in game two
- Paulino has a 13-game hitting streak and Dougherty has hit safely in nine straight
- Harrison is 13-for-29 over an eight-game hitting streak
- Camarena has two hits in each of his last three starts
- Shane made his first start of the season after making 16 relief appearances and is now 3-2 with eight saves and a 2.68 ERA
- Since March 1, Lynn is hitting .338 and outscoring its opponents 251-152 (21-7 record over stretch)
