DiMaggio wins fifth straight start in doubleheader split with NSU

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn split its series-opening doubleheader with Nova Southeastern on Saturday, winning the opener 6-5 and dropping game two, 4-1. The Fighting Knights received excellent starting pitching in both games, as Ryan DiMaggio improved to 7-3 and Mason Tinsley allowed just one run over six innings.

Offensively, Amaris Harrison extended his hitting streak to 10 games while David Judge smacked a two-run homer and had three hits over both contests.

Lynn is now 29-16 overall and has a program-record 18 conference wins.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- The Sharks loaded the bases in the top of the second but Leon Paulino's diving catch kept the game scoreless
- With two outs in the bottom of the second, Harrison went the other way with a double and Judge followed with a two-run shot to left field
- DiMaggio struck out the side in the top of the fourth inning
- Bryant Zayas walked and later scored on an error by the first baseman for a 3-0 Lynn lead through five innings
- A two-run home run brought NSU within one run, 3-2
- Lynn scored two more runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh
- Harrison scored on a wild pitch and an error by the pitcher on a pickoff attempt plated Blake Mayberry
- Shawn Dougherty crushed a solo homer to right for a 6-2 Fighting Knight lead
- Two hits and two errors brought Nova within one run
- With the bases loaded and two outs, a ground out to Cole Fowler ended the game for a 6-5 final

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 1):
- DiMaggio's pitching line: 6 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 6 SO
- He lowered his season ERA to 3.48
- Nathan Shane recorded the final out for his ninth save of the season
- Dougherty hit his 17th career home run as a Fighting Knight while Judge hit his 15th
- Harrison went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and a stolen base, raising his average to .321

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- Two singles led to an RBI ground out for a 1-0 Sharks lead through one inning
- Tinsley faced the minimum in the second, third and fourth innings
- Lynn tied the game at one in the fifth as Harrison and Judge hit back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners
- An error on a safety squeeze by Zayas scored Harrison
- A solo homer by NSU broke the tie in the top of the eighth
- The Sharks tacked on two more runs in the top of the ninth for a 4-1 final

- Tinsley's pitching line: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 SO
- Harrison scored Lynn's lone run and has scored 10 times over his last eight games
- Judge and Zayas each had multiple hits
