Lynn opens SSC play with shutout against Florida Southern

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University men's soccer team opened Sunshine State Conference play in commanding fashion with a 3-0 victory over Florida Southern on Saturday evening at Bobby Campbell Stadium.

The Fighting Knights remain unbeaten at 5-0 overall and 1-0 in SSC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- Dominik N'gatie had the first opportunity to put the Fighting Knights up in the 15th minute but the shot went wide right 
- Thiago De Carvalho launched a through ball in the air that landed at the feet of Junior Smith in the opposition's penalty area 
- Smith took a shot that hit off the post, N'gatie was there to finish the job and put Lynn up in the 33rd minute, 1-0 
- Keeper Luca Clavero made a save two minutes after the goal to keep Lynn in the lead going into the second half 
- Just moments into the second half Luan Barroso Rennstich doubled the lead with a chipped finish from a penalty kick in the 48th minute, 2-0
- In the 72nd minute Smith scored the third goal for Lynn off a feed from Rennstich to seal the result, 3-0
- Clavero saved a shot in the 77th minute to keep the clean sheet 
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS: 
- Lynn outshot Florida Southern, 10-9, with five shots on goal each 
- Clavero stopped five shots to secure his second shutout of the season 
- Rennstich and Smith both tallied a goal and an assist each 
- Rennstich scored his first goal in 2025 
- N'gatie tops the team after he scored his fourth goal of the season 
- Lynn held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks, all coming in the second half
