BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University women's soccer team secured its first win of the 2025 season, defeating Holy Family University, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon at Bobby Campbell Stadium. Sophomore forward Talia Stacy netted a first-half brace to lead the Fighting Knights, while Juliana Torres and the Lynn defense powered the Blue and White to a strong home victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn broke through in the 38th minute with a Holy Family own goal off a corner kick to put the Fighting Knights up 1-0
- Less than two minutes later, Stacy doubled the lead, running onto a long ball from Calista Cali from Lynn's own defensive third and finished inside the box, 2-0
- Stacy struck again in the 43rd minute, this time chipping the goalkeeper after receiving a lofted pass from Isabella Humbles, 3-0
- The Fighting Knights extended the advantage in the 49th minute, as Torres slotted home a right-footed shot into the bottom corner off a through ball from Tyler Vance, 4-0
- Holy Family pulled one back in the 76th minute with a close-range header following a corner kick, 4-1
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Stacy scored her first goals as a Fighting Knight
- Torres netted her first goal of the season, finishing with a team-high five shots with four on target
- Freshman goalkeeper Emma Brunelli and sophomore Maleah Bainer split time in net
- Bainer tallied one save in the second half
- Humbles, Cali, and Vance each recorded an assist in the win
- Lynn outshot Holy Family 17-6, including a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal
- The Knights matched the Tigers with five corner kicks apiece
