Deleon shines as Lynn tests undefeated Nova Southeastern

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn dropped a tightly contested matchup to No. 4 Nova Southeastern, 67-62, on Saturday afternoon. The game featured six ties and eight lead changes, as freshman Angelina Deleon led all scorers with a career-high 20 points to go along with seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.

Lynn falls to 11-7 overall and 5-5 in the Sunshine State Conference, while Nova Southeastern improves to 17-0 and 9-0 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Sharks jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Trinity Mocadlo opened the scoring for Lynn
- Emily Jean-Glaude found Katie Tiffan for a 3-pointer as the Fighting Knights trailed by four, 14-10
- Tiffan grabbed an offensive rebound and converted the putback for the final points of the first quarter with Lynn down three
- Lynn took its first lead, 22-20, following a layup by Deleon and a 3-pointer from Hannah Wentworth
- The Fighting Knights led 30-29 with 2:08 remaining in the first half after a pair of Tiffan free throws
- Lynn trailed by three at the half but opened the third quarter on a 7-0 run, with five points from Mocadlo
- Lynn extended the lead to 43-38 after a 6-0 run that included five points from Deleon
- Nova Southeastern responded with a 9-0 run over the final three minutes of the third quarter to retake the lead
- Mocadlo's 3-pointer from the wing brought Lynn within three, 51-48
- Wentworth's steal and layup made it a two-possession game, 57-52
- The Sharks pushed the lead to nine with one minute remaining
- Deleon's traditional three-point play and a deep 3-pointer kept Lynn within striking distance in the final minute, but Nova Southeastern held on for the win

- Lynn shot better than Nova Southeastern from the field, beyond the arc and at the free-throw line
- The Fighting Knights held a 30-26 advantage in points in the paint and an 11-5 edge in fast-break points
- Deleon has recorded multiple steals in five of her last six games
- Alana Francis, Wentworth and Jean-Glaude each recorded two blocks as Lynn set a season high with seven
