Fourth-quarter surge falls short as Lynn falls at Nova Southeastern

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Lynn University women's basketball team mounted a determined 20-point fourth quarter push but ultimately fell to Nova Southeastern, 76-63, in Sunshine State Conference action Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- Nova Southeastern struck first off a Lynn turnover, converting a steal into a fast-break layup and jumping out to a quick early lead while forcing multiple Fighting Knight miscues 
- Karishma Ortiz got Lynn on the board with a driving layup off a Trinity Mocadlo assist, trimming the deficit after an early defensive stand 
- Lynn battled back at the free throw line as Emily Jean-Glaude knocked down a pair of foul shots following an offensive rebound to keep the game within reach 
- A Nova steal-and-score sequence pushed the Sharks' lead to double digits midway through the quarter, capitalizing on Lynn turnovers 
- Following a timeout, Lynn responded with energy as Mocadlo buried a three-pointer off an Ortiz assist to halt Nova momentum 
Danigzy Mantilla finished inside off a Jean-Glaude assist to spark a Lynn push, but Nova countered with another transition basket, 19-9 
- Lynn showed resilience late in the period, forcing turnovers and earning trips to the line, converting multiple free throws to chip away at the margin 
- Hannah Wentworth and Angelina  combined for perimeter shooting and fast-break pressure, highlighted by 's late three-pointer that provided a closing spark 
- Lynn closed the half with aggressive defense and transition looks, but the Sharks' rebounding and timely shooting preserved a halftime advantage, 45-33 
- The Fighting Knights scored 10 points in the third quarter highlighted by scores from Mocadlo, Jean-Glaude and  
- The Blue and White surged in the fourth quarter scoring 20 points 
- Katie Tiffan opened the final quarter with a layup from Mocadlo with the first possesion of the period 
- A pair of free throws and a three from Wentworth brought the Fighting Knights to 50 points on the night 
- Mocadlo had a huge block and defensive rebound with four minutes remaining in the game, going on to win and score two free throw shots 
- She later drilled her second three of the night with a minute left on the clock 
- Lynn however couldn't complete the comeback, with the final score being 76-63 for the Sharks

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS: 
- Mocadlo and tied for 14 points on the night 
- Mocadlo added five assists with four rebound and one block 
- Deleon made six of eight free throws, both her three-pointers and had five rebounds 
- Jeann-Glaude grabbed six rebounds, scoring four from four free throws and nine points total 
- The Fighting Knights shot 78.6% from the line, out beating the Sharks who had 68%

- Lynn returns to action on the road next week when it heads to Tampa to take on the Spartans on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m.
