BOCA RATON, Fla. - The No. 11 Lynn women's lacrosse team earned its first win of the season in its home opener, defeating Colorado Mesa, 15-9, Sunday afternoon. The victory was highlighted by hat tricks from
Rebecca Clark,
Angelia Huggins, and
Hannah Exley.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn wasted no time setting the tone, as Clark and Exley each found the back of the net in the opening minute to give the Fighting Knights an early 2-0 lead

Madison Smith added an unassisted goal with 11:43 remaining in the first quarter to extend the advantage to 3-0
- Clark and Huggins each scored again late in the period, pushing Lynn in front 5-1
- Colorado Mesa responded with three straight goals to close the quarter, trimming the deficit to 5-4
- Huggins opened the second quarter with a solo goal at the 12:38 mark, making it 6-4
- Just 25 seconds later, Clark capitalized on a feed from Huggins to stretch the lead to 7-4
- The Mavericks answered with a strong run to close the half, taking an 8-7 lead into the break
- Lynn's defense tightened in the third quarter, holding Colorado Mesa scoreless while the Knights went on a four-goal run
- Shortly after,
Emily Solomon forced a key turnover and collected the ground ball to spark another Lynn opportunity
- Following a successful clear,
Olivia Fox netted her first goal of the afternoon off a crucial pass from Smith with 10:54 on the clock, putting Lynn back on top, 9-8
- Exley added back-to-back goals to close the third quarter - including a man-up tally - completing her hat trick and giving Lynn an 11-8 advantage
- Huggins opened the fourth quarter with a man-up goal off another assist from Smith to make it 12-8
- Smith recorded her second goal of the day at the 10:20 mark, extending the lead to 13-8
- Clagett capitalized on a man-up opportunity with a solo goal with six minutes remaining, pushing the score to 14-9
- Connors added her first goal of the game late in the fourth to seal the 15-9 victory for the Fighting Knights
