BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Lynn University men's lacrosse team secured its first win of the season Sunday afternoon, defeating Westminster (Utah), 14–9, at the de Hoernle Sports and Cultural Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn struck early on a man-up opportunity, as
Dom Veratti opened the scoring with a goal assisted by
Chase Cavalier
- After Westminster briefly tied the game at 2-2, the Fighting Knights responded with three straight goals from
Mitch Rini,
Riley Knox, and Veratti to take a 5-2 lead at the end of the first quarter
- Veratti added Lynn's sixth goal midway through the second period to make it 6-2

Mario Leone followed with a goal to extend the advantage to 7-2 before halftime
- Westminster rallied in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to 7-6
- Leone and Knox answered late in the period, restoring a three-goal cushion at 9-6 heading into the fourth
- The visitors scored twice early in the final quarter to pull within one, 9-8

Landon Scully sparked a decisive 5–1 run with an unassisted goal at the 9:52 mark
- Veratti struck 52 seconds later off a feed from Leone
- Leone added his fourth goal of the game to push the lead to 12-9
- Veratti completed his five-goal performance off an assist from
Noah Gies, 13-9
- Scully capped the scoring with his second of the afternoon to seal the 14-9 victory
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Veratti and Leone paced the offense with six points each
- Veratti finished with five goals and an assist, while Leone totaled four goals and two assists
- Scully recorded three points with two goals and an assist in his first collegiate goals
- Knox added two goals from two shots, and Rini chipped in a goal and an assist

Jack McKay controlled the faceoff unit with seven wins and six ground balls
- Lynn was flawless on clears (39-for-39) and won the ground ball battle, 33-23
