LAKELAND, Fla. - The No. 14 Lynn University women's tennis team competed hard on the road Thursday afternoon, earning two singles victories in a 5-2 Sunshine State Conference loss to No. 11 Florida Southern.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Fighting Knights opened strong in doubles play as
Carla Galmiche and
Meadow Garcia secured a convincing 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles
- Florida Southern responded by taking courts two and three to claim the doubles point and a 1-0 lead
- Galmiche delivered a standout performance in No. 2 singles, earning a straight-set 6-4, 6-3 win to even the match early
- In the third flight Garcia battled through a tightly contested three-set match, coming out on top in a super tiebreak to give Lynn its second point, 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7)
- Florida Southern regained control in the remaining singles flights to secure the conference victory
- The Fighting Knights showed resilience throughout, with multiple matches extending into competitive sets against a ranked opponent
